Organisation

I am now deep into the Editing process. I believe I am currently on track  with the deadline fast approaching. I have nearly edited all on the shots from shot 1 (Clevedon.) I used a variety of shots and cuts such as. Fade Cuts and Straight Cuts. I believe I have demonstrated a large amount of shots which I will talk about in my next blog. I have been heavily inspired by a variety of films for my cuts. Edgar Wright who directed films like Hot Fuzz uses a variety for different original cuts. This is an ideal example of snappy cuts which I would like to use.

Research into Similar Products

This is a variety of different examples of Indie Digipaks. As you can see they all mostly follow similar codes and conventions. They are all mostly either black and white or show very minimalistic colour apart from a few. This may because indie artists mainly believe most about the music than the artwork therefore do not try to get there album to stand out a such as others do for example the pop genre mostly use bright colours like yellow because they are very commercial. As you can see from the image below of Katy Perry's Album.

Research into similar products

As my moving image product also requires that I make a digipak for my artist I have recently been looking into a variety of different ones which I think I may be able to take inspiration from. As you can see I featured The Arctic Monkey's. They are artist which I am going to be inspired be throughout. They have a clear theme throughout. Smoking is a predominant one. Smoking fits the indie genre therefore that is one reason why they may of use this. As you can see the front cover he is taking a drag. The actually CD features a variety for cigarettes ends. The back of the digital shoes the male rubbing his eye due to getting smoke in it.

Organisation

Due to my cast being very reliable I checked my footage and unfortunately had to retake some shots. As you can see from my storyboard the last couple of shots featured the 'Grandad' character and the 'Granny' Character. The shots were shaky and didn't show my full capability. Luckily, these were shots from the Birmingham shoot so didn't have ti go all the way to Clevedon to redo my shots
I had to retake shots 28, 29 and 30

Drafting and Planning

I have now completed my filming and there are some still images from a variety of shots I took over the filming process. As you can see the the location is ideal for the scene which I was aiming to create. Once I start to piece all my different shots together I believe it will look like a realistic indie music video.

Organisation

I believe that I have all the things which I may need for my media project put into a list ready for today's filming. I am filming for 12-4 because I think the weather will be gloomy which sets the mood perfectly for my video. Personally, I believe once I have filmed all the shots for the Birmingham shoot. I can they start the Editing process which I believe is the hardest part. I have chosen today to film due to the weather settling the sad monotone scene who h I want to portray in the Birmingham Shoot.

Drafting and Planning

In the blog completed on the 11th January, I mentioned that I will be using the Editing software Movie Plus X6. Since then I have encountered some problems regarding this process. All the files which I have filmed were not supported and therefore all crashed. I had to then transfer all the files to my teachers laptop and then he had to change them to a file which was supported within MoviePlus. I also had some difficulty organising and separating some shots which I had filmed. This set me back some time therefore I will stay behind to ensure I stay on schedule. I am planning on filming my second shoot tomorrow therefore will have to edit it all together. I believe this is a minor set back but will allow me to have all the filming out of the way and have nearly a month to prepare for my editing

Drafting and Planning

The first draft of my piece isn't til 17th February therefore to ensure I reach this deadline I am going to try to start my editing process. I will be using Serif, Movie Plus x6 to edit. I believe this will be ideal for me due to the preliminary task we did at the start of the year using this software and explore techniques such as the 180 degree rule. It will also be the most accessible program to me due to now having a laptop and the software being installed on the school computers. Overall,I think I will be ready for the deadline.

Drafting and Planning

I have now finished filming all the components which I could do for the shoot which is in Clevedon. As you can see from this previous blog there is two separate shoots so next week on Saturday the 14th January I will complete the Birmingham Shoot. For now I will review all the footage in which I have shot and chose the shots in which I want to keep and use for my video. I will them name all these shots and put them in an order which is easy to interpret. This will prepare me and ensure that I am organized and ready for the Editing process. As you can see from the picture shown below I think I have completed all the necessary things needed stated in pre production.

Drafting and Planning

Today is the day in which I am planning on filing the first half of my music video. As you can see from this picture the weather is looking ideal for the mood which I am trying to portray in my music video. The cast I have chosen to film also live in Clevedon. I am hoping that this means that my video can be taken time and effort to ensure that it looks professional. Overall, I think that I now have all the things needed to film.

Drafting and Planning

After discussing the dates I want to film in my previous blog post (http://paddyhickeya2media.blogspot.co.uk/2016/12/organisation_22.html ) I have now decided to bring my filming forward to the dates:

  • 7th January 2017
  • 14th January 2017
This is due to the optimum filming potential being fore filled on this dates. This refers to to a variety of reasons allowing my me to reach my full filming capability's. These are:

  • The weather being right allowing my to set the mood for the piece well
  • Travel- Allowing me to get a lift to Clevedon without a problem or a time limit
  • Cast- The cast can all be present for any extra shots needed.
  • Prepared- Due to my high organisational skills I now feel I am ready to begin filming without feeling rushed.
As you can see the weather is now ideal for the shots and mood in which I want to portray in my video.

Organisation

As my blog post on costumes for the Clevedon cast was posted about a week ago I wanted to ensure that these costumes were appropriate. To do this I texted one of my friends 'Molly' for a second hand opinion. As you can see I want to see if it followed the codes and conventions of  and Indie music video therefore suggested a music video I was heavily inspired by named Emily's Heart by Jamie t. I was very happy with her response therefore I will follow though with the costume ideas in which I came up with.

Organisation

After a large variety of organisation I think I am now ready to begin my filming. I create lots of different lists which allows me to ensure that when the day of shooting comes I am prepared and ready and get all the shots I need. Some lists I have created have been:

  • Shot List
  • Props List
  • Character List
  • Character profile
  • Storyboards
I think that all these combined will allow me to show my large range of techniques, angles and shots to ensure the moderator can see I have used media skills and techniques well throughout. These are some examples of lists I have created. As you can see they are very detailed and also clearly set out so that I am not concerning about worried about what shots comes next when I start filming.

Drafting and Planning

This is my Call Sheet. It features all the information needed for both shoots which I will be filming. As you can see I think this will be very helpful because it gives me all the information such as cast needed, location, props, weather, the shots I am filming and how to shoot them. When it comes to going to Clevedon I can look over this sheet to ensure I get all I need it one shoot because I am reliant of other people for my video.
